Bollywood at the News18 Showreel conclave



Bollywood's most talented and popular actors were featured in News18's blockbuster event Showreel. Kartik Aaryan was the first to attend the event where he talked about his films and struggles in the industry. The film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 became a super hit at the box office. He said at the event, “Whether it is my hits or failures, everything is my decision. I am proud of my journey and my decisions. This year has been a big game-changer for me. I just have to entertain the audience and work now.” He also shared the fact that people wanted Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 to be released on OTT but he didn't agree to it.

 

 

 

Talking about coming to Mumbai to make his dream come true, Kartik said “My parents are doctors, their dream was that I should also become a doctor or engineer. If I had told them directly that I wanted to become an actor, my family would never have allowed it. So, I found a way to travel to Mumbai on the pretext of an engineering entrance exam. I used to go for auditions about 2 times a week. The first audition was cracked after a year and a half. I remember I got a check for Rs 1500 after being successful in that audition.”

 

 

 

Next in the line was the action star of Bollywood Vidyut Jammwal, who has made a place in the heart of India through his martial arts prowess. Jammwal, who is known for his sculpted physique, also talked about discipline with the people at the event. Sharing about his childhood and learning the martial art of Kalaripayattu, Vidyut said, “My father was in the army and if your parents do a government job then you know that you get a chance to travel across the country. That is how I got to know about Kalari and learned it. I have lived in Kerala and also in very small places in the country.”

 

 

 

Bollywood actress Mrunal Thakur also graced the event and shared stories about her journey saying, “I used to bunk college and go for auditions. Due to this, attendance in the college also decreased. Everyone has their own journey. I just want to say that in the journey that I have been through, from Super 30 to Sita Ramam, I am very proud of it.”

 

 

 

Darlings fame actor Vijay Verma engaged in a candid chat and shared, “The plan I had made to run away from home, and I made the best plan for it. I confirmed the seat in the film school, arranged the fees, and arranged the expenses for the month. After that, I took my mother's permission and ran away without informing my father.”

 

 

 

Actress Vaani Kapoor too shared her experience of appearing for her first audition for her first film Shuddh Desi Romance. Remembering her first encounter with Shanoo Sharma for an audition, Vaani said, “She made me dance for 2 hours and I do not know why. There was also a time when she used to call me to the salon where she was getting pedicures done. Then she would tell me, ‘Let's say the line, let's act.’ I understood that she is trying to open me up to the people. she wanted to ease my hesitation, as I am an introvert by nature.”

 

 

 

Kajol and Revathy also attended the News18 Showreel conclave where they both shared their experience of working together for their upcoming film Salaam Venky. When asked about the star cast of the film, Kajol said “After 30 years I am working with Kamal Sadanah in a movie. I started my career with him in my debut film Bekhudi and it was a surprise for me that he was my co-actor in this film.” Revathy praised Kajol for her exceptional talent and said, “Kajol tells a lot with her eyes, she is very expressive.”

 

 

 

Popular actress Yami Gautam too shared moments from the initial days of her career and said, “I used to get nervous and scared about media interactions. I used to say in my mind, “Please ask questions to my co-actors and not me.”

 

 

 

Prominent actor Ayushmann Khurrana also shared anecdotes from his journey and said, “The movies I have done so far are on such topics that no one has ever touched. For me, entertainment is the number one priority. We can spread our message through entertainment.” When asked about working on international projects, Ayushmann said “I want to explore all the aspects of Indian cinema first. If anything beyond a stereotypical role for an Indian in an international film comes, only then I would love to do it.”
