Capturing viewer attention
with its trailer, Sumi has now enthralled a bevvy of stars who were invited for
a special screening before its OTT premiere. The film is live now on Planet
Marathi OTT of Akshay Bardapurkar. It was great to see many names from the
Indian entertainment industry come out to support the film. Interestingly the
film deeply touched the stars and many of them could not stop gushing about the
film. Stars like Sharad Kelkar, Hiten Tejwani, Rashmi Desai, Hussain
Kuwajerwala, Gaurav Chopra, Amruta Khanvillkar and Terence Lewis among others
made up the exciting guest list.

actor, Sharad Kelkar shared his thoughts on the film “It will connect straight
to the hearts of people of all age groups. Sumi is an entertaining film. You
will feel like laughing and crying throughout the film. It connects with people
in every scene. A father has a very deep emotion for his daughter and I can
relate to it. The director was able to showcase every character’s emotion so
clearly and subtly, that it was beautiful to watch. There was no exaggeration”
The film is a moving story
of a little girl’s relentless struggle for education. It releases on Children’s
Day and will tell us the stories of those children who are not privileged
enough to get access to education and other facilities, however it does not
mean their dreams are small. Along with kids, parents and other adults will
also learn lessons of friendship, optimism and fortitude from ‘Sumi’.
Other celebrities too went
gaga over the performances of the movie. Star celebrity choreographer Terrence
Lewis shared “I really enjoyed the film. The minutest details are well thought
of. It is such a sensitive film. We often forget what kind of situations people
go through to have their dreams come true. I was crying throughout the film
because it was so beautiful. All the actors, direction, storytelling, everyone
has put in so much of effort”
Popular actress Rashmi
Desai who was there to support the film commented “I had my mother’s journey to
recollect, the film felt very real. It was a sweet, honest film with a lot of
relevant messages” Everyone agrees the film transcends age groups. Famous actor
Hiten Tejwani “It is mindblowing. The passion, simplicity and love with this
film is made is for all to see. Kids are the main stars. It is a film which
should be watched with your families.
Telling the story of a
simple stone quarry worker’s daughter Sumi, who is ready to pull all stops in
pursuing her dream of getting educated despite her numerous challenges, the
film seems to have left a huge impression on those who have watched it.
It is directed by Amol
Gole , written by Sanjeev K Jha and stars Akanksha Pingale, Divyesh Indulkar,
Smita Tambe and Nitin Bhajan among others. Produced by Harshall Vinay Kamat,
