Anupam Kher’s NBC series New Amsterdam that
premiered on 25th September and recorded a 1.8 + Live first day rating based on
8.4 million viewership is set for its India launch this month.
The versatile actor who has been hugely
appreciated for his role of a Neurologist Dr Vijay Kapoor is excited about the
show having its India launch on 13th October on Colors Infinity at 10 pm.
After the overwhelming response to the show in the
USA, the global actor is glad about his show making it to the small screens in
India.
Interestingly, the highly-anticipated show has
been picked up for the full season. Instead of getting picked up for 13
episodes, the makers of the show are going ahead with 22 episodes which rarely
happens with shows within three weeks of its airing.
Anupam Kher informs, “I’m really happy that New
Amsterdam will now be telecast in India so that my countrymen will get the
chance to watch the show. I’m humbled and deeply honoured with the great response
the show has been receiving in the USA. Also, it's great that the show has been
picked up for 22 episodes.”
Such has been the popularity of the show that it
has generated fourth biggest total viewership on NBC. Interestingly, the second
episode which was aired on Tuesday (2nd October) trended in the USA!
The popular series showed strong vitals with its
Tuesday premiere, and is considered NBC’s best demo number within that
particular time slot in two years but is also fourth biggest total viewer-lift
on record for a series premiere in ‘live plus one day’ Nielsens.
