Clinic Plus confers scholarship to middle-school girls till they complete their schooling



Over the years, Clinic Plus has instituted various initiatives to strengthen mother and daughter relationship, by empowering them. To add more force to their unwavering brand commitment, Clinic Plus launched its secondary education scholarship programme for girls to aid them complete their schooling.
In its first year, 200 school girls from financially underprivileged backgrounds, but with exceptional academic & co-curricular records were awarded with the scholarship to pursue and complete their education. To celebrate this significant occasion, the brand hosted a felicitation ceremony to award some of the winners over a gala ceremony in Mumbai. The felicitation ceremony was attended by renowned celebrity mother-daughter duo Sharmila Tagore – Soha Ali Khan. They have shown their support for the brand and its initiative since launch last year.
In the first year itself, the Clinic Plus Scholarship Programme received an overwhelming response with more than 2.5 million people calling to support the cause and over 10,000 applications from across India. The responsibility of selecting the qualifiers was given to a panel, formed by credible individuals from education, law and social service field. Prof. Dr. Vibhuti Patel, Head Department of Economics, SNDT Women’s University; Dr. Harshada Rathod, Principal, Maniben Nanavati Women’s College; Dr. Marcario Fernandes, Social Activist; Mrs. Josephine Rodricks, Teacher, Villa Theresa High School; Mr. Vivek Daswaney, Solicitor, V Law Partners, amongst many others worked closely with Clinic Plus to nominate final candidates, and ensured that the most-deserving girls were granted the scholarship. 
Speaking on the occasion, Srirup Mitra, General Manager, Hair, HUL said"We are extremely happy to reward these young girls with scholarships, as they have the ambition to achieve, despite all limitations. With the Clinic Plus Scholarship Programme, we want to help provide the girl child with a strong foundation for a stronger tomorrow. It is a great moment for us, as we have received overwhelming response from across India and we hope that with each year we get to make this initiative bigger and better.”
Sharmila Tagore said, “I have always believed that girl’s education as a cause is very important in our country, and I have always tried to do my bit for this cause. I’m happy to be part of this occasion, as I believe in Clinic Plus’ philosophy and I want congratulate them for this successful endeavor. Clinic Plus scholarship felicitation ceremony is a celebratory moment for both girls and their mothers, and it is my pleasure to be part of this joyous occasion.”
Clinic Plus’ Scholarship Program is one such initiative that has awards scholarships to secondary and higher secondary school girls from rural backgrounds, socio-economic strata of society. In a country like India, where the dropout rates of girls in middle school are high, the brand’s program has helped and encouraged these girls to complete their schooling without any hurdles.
